REMEMBER: At practice every day, you must have appropriate outdoor running shoes and attire (enough layers to be warm when standing around and stay cool when exercising) and you must be ready to run two team laps on the outdoor track at 2:30 PM sharp. Please bring your own water bottle and nutritional snacks for before and after practice.
THIS WEEK is full of extra stuff. Most important for practice this week is to show coaches your commitment to our team and your desire to compete and work your hardest in order to reach your full potential in the highly individualized sport of track and field.
REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS TONIGHT, MONDAY, MARCH 2nd! Go to the "registration" page for details and links.
TUESDAY, MARCH 3rd, Coach Alexanderson will have a parent meeting in the lecture hall for those parents who need additional help with registration, and to answer questions about the outdoor season as well as our upcoming time trial.
WEDNESDAY Lockers will be assigned from 2:15 PM - 3:00 PM. A nutritionist from TOSH will also be here at 4:00PM to inform students about how to properly fuel before, during, and after our long track meet days, etc.
THURSDAY is our time trial which will last until at least 5:00 PM. I will make a separate post about this later in the week. Events will be the 100, 200, 400, 1600, shot put, discus, javelin, and high jump.
FRIDAY bring some snow/mud gear or trial shoes because we will take busses up Mill Creek Canyon to run and hike as recovery from our time trial. If you have YakTraks or microspikes, feel free to bring them with you to help with traction on slippery surfaces.
If you are having a hard time understanding what coaches mean by "good running shoes," take a look at these articles (with video) from REI titled "How to Choose Running Shoes" and "When to Replace Your Running Shoes".
